Family Assistance

The Baptist Community Center Mission receives funding to help people in need who reside in Travis County with either their rent or utilities. A photo ID, Social Security number and copy of your rental agreement or utility bill will be required for an appointment.

Important Things to Note

  • You can only apply for family assistance once every six months.

  • We do not help with deposits.

  • We cannot help with rent balances that exceed $100.

  • Utility payments are limited to the last $50 of your bill.

  • You can only get ONE kind of specific assistance every six months (no rent and utilities simultaneously, for example).

  • Setting an appointment may take several days so do not wait until your bill is way overdue before applying.

  • We write payments directly to a commercial landlord (not an individual) or utility company, never to the person applying.

  • We help on a first-come-first-served basis and not every application is accepted.

How to Apply

Call us to set an appointment. Bring with you the following documents (If you have a problem locating or bringing these documents, speak to the administrative assistant about your options):

  • Photo ID

  • Social Security cards of everyone living in your household

  • A copy of your lease for rental assistance

  • A copy of your bill for utility assistance

  • A piece of mail to verify that you live at the address (a bill with your name and address on it is good)

  • If applying for rental assistance, a letter from your landlord with his/her contact information stating how much you pay a month and how much you owe now
